Our story
How it all started

Every idea starts with a problem
Ours was simple: Workforce shortage
Dr Bansal witnessed a fragmented, ineffective state of mental healthcare system in the USA caused due to shortages of Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists in such a volume-based healthcare system which eventually led to these specialists being compelled to attend to an increasing number of patients in a limited time frame thereby causing work-stress for them and also affecting the overall quality of the holistic patient care and treatment, He saw a growing need for behavioural health solution that would serve the child and adolescent population with fast access to providers using recognised best practices—in particular, outcome-informed care, which would help patients get better faster, with fewer treatment failures.
And thus Mindweal was born on Sept 2020

I was witnessing so much more behavioral health issues in kids and adolescents, that it became really clear to me to reinvent the way mental healthcare is delivered to them.
– Dr Bansal, Mindweal Founder & CEO

The corrective approach we took
We wanted to drive positive outcomes for our patients.
The whole idea of Mindweal was to use Tele-health and bring services to those who are in remote areas and thereby address the lack of specialists where it mattered the most. Dr Bansal reimagined the entire operational process by making it paperless, hassle free, thus providing convenient care to patients and promote better coordination of care. This approach saw much more positive treatment results, & patient satisfaction which eventually reflected in the online reviews and led to overall job satisfaction for Dr Bansal.

Saw a big gap in the market
Finding the right behavioral health workforce was challenging because of a diverse web of provider types with overlapping capacities.
As the number of patients that enrolled in the Mindweal practice went off the charts Dr Bansal found himself filling in more hours in order to cater to the growing members and their needs. This called for recruiting more providers with excellent clinical skills and who shared the same values and beliefs as Mindweal.
Since Child Psychiatrists are a rare breed, Dr Bansal decided to hire a Nurse Practitioner. After interviewing several, it was realised that most providers were were primarily trained in adult psychiatry, and were applying the principles of adult psychiatry to child psychiatry. None of them had proper training in Child Psychiatry which is a must as kids are not little adults and their clinical presentation is unique from adults, and much more challenging as symptoms in different problem areas overlap.

Create a strong workforce
Addressing the practice gap for nurse practitioners with appropriate training programs and required guidance.
Realising that the only way to hire excellent peadiatric psychiatry Nurse practitioners was to create them, and how? The best possible way was to select new graduates with an excellent work ethic who are passionate about the field and willing to learn and train them into outstanding clinicians. Dr Bansal was lucky to find a couple of nurse graduates with all these qualities who eventually learned all the skills needed to become a fantastic clinician. He saw the spark in then and was impressed by the way they helped the patients, brought up their confidence in treatment and self esteem which eventually showed in outcomes.
However, he strongly felt that if he had to realise his dream of making a difference for the community on a larger scale and help enough kids, the shortage of skilled providers needed to be addressed and what better way than creating a robust platform that provided all the providers with the appropriate training, guidance, and real-time supervision.
Keeping these glaring issues in mind, Mindweal was founded to address them.
