About Us

It started with a simple promise: better mental health care for children & teens.

From that promise came a new kind of care—built on accurate assessments, personalized treatment plans, and continuous support throughout the mental-wellness journey.

OUR FOUNDING STORY

Where it started

MindWeal’s story begins in a small farming village in India, where Dr. Rahul Bansal grew up in a family that valued education, science, and service. Inspired by those values, he entered medicine expecting to pursue surgery. But as his training progressed, he found himself drawn instead to the deeper, more complex work of understanding people—their thoughts, emotions, and lived experiences.

That path led him to psychiatry, and ultimately to child and adolescent psychiatry, where delivering high-quality care means truly understanding a child’s biology, their inner world, and the environments shaping their life.

The reality he
couldn’t ignore

When Dr. Bansal entered real-world  practice—in Detroit, in Ann Arbor, and in rural Iowa—he saw the same concerning pattern everywhere. Families were doing everything “right”: calling early, waiting patiently, completing endless forms, and advocating fiercely for their children. Yet the level of support they received still fell short of what their kids truly needed.

Across settings, the challenges were remarkably consistent:

  • A severe shortage of child and adolescent psychiatrists.
  • Short, rushed appointments that couldn’t capture the full context.
  • Quick, checkbox-style evaluations that missed critical nuances.
  • Fragmented communication across psychiatry, therapy, medical providers, and schools.
  • No real support between visits, leaving parents to navigate everything alone.
  • Healthcare dollars spent on ER visits and hospitalizations that address crises but rarely solve underlying issues.

Taken together, these issues revealed something deeper: this wasn’t just an access problem—it was a system not designed to give families clarity, consistency, or the depth of care children truly require.

The result was predictable: exhausted parents, confused care plans, and kids continuing to struggle.

At a certain point, it became clear to him that simply working harder inside the existing system wasn’t enough. The system itself needed to change.

Time after time, I watched families do everything right and still not get the support they needed. That’s when I realized the system wasn’t going to fix itself—pediatric mental health had to be redesigned from the ground up.

From one doctor’s insight to a
different kind of care

Seeing the same problems across multiple care settings and regions
reshaped Dr. Bansal’s vision—one centered on accuracy, clarity, and a true
partnership with families.

He recognized that families needed:

A comprehensive assessment

that captures the full clinical and contextual picture.

A personalized treatment plan

designed around the child’s real life.

A care model built on
continuous guidance

not brief, one-time visits.

To enable this level of care, he developed the M-Wise diagnostic model—an assessment that gathers over 1,300 data points to help clinicians form a complete, nuanced understanding of each child from the very beginning.

In 2020, he founded MindWeal—a care model purpose-built for children and teens, where:

  • Care is designed specifically for pediatric needs, not adapted from adult psychiatry
  • Clinicians receive structured training, mentorship, and supervision
  • Families are supported with clarity and consistency at every step

My goal wasn’t to build a faster way to deliver quick fixes. It was to create a wellness wayfinder for families—a team that guides them through the long-term journey toward better mental health.

MINDWEAL, YOUR WELLNESS WAYFINDER

How our vision becomes care

MindWeal is built on a simple philosophy: understand the child fully, design the
right plan, and support families over time.
We are not a quick-fix clinic.
We serve as your wellness wayfinder—offering clear direction, informed
guidance, and dependable support as your child grows and their needs evolve.

1

First, we understand the
full story.

Every journey begins with a comprehensive evaluation that looks beyond symptoms to the child’s strengths, challenges, developmental history, home and school environments, and the broader context of their daily life.

2

Then, we build a
personalized plan.

Using what we learn, we create a treatment plan tailored to your child’s needs. This may include counseling, medication, psychoeducation, skill-building tools, and coordination with schools or other providers.

3

Finally, we stay connected
throughout the journey.

Care doesn’t end when the visit ends. We monitor progress, make thoughtful adjustments as your child grows and changes, and provide families with consistent guidance every step of the way.

This is what it means to be your wellness wayfinder: we walk
alongside your family, bring clarity to what’s happening, and
guide you step-by-step toward lasting mental wellness.

Our values guide how we show up for children, families, and one
another—every single day.

Patient-Centricity

Children, teens, and their families are at the center of everything we do.

  • We begin with deep listening and a genuine effort to understand the whole story.
  • Care is tailored and practical—designed around real life, including home routines, school demands, friendships, and community.
  • Families are partners in the treatment process, not bystanders.

Trust & Integrity

Families trust us with what matters most-their child. We work to earn and maintain that trust through every interaction.

  • We remain transparent about diagnoses, treatment options, treatment effectiveness, billing, and all aspects of care.
  • Privacy and confidentiality are foundational and non-negotiable.
  • We approach every family with respect, empathy, and zero judgment.

the Mindweal Difference

Who We Serve

Our mission comes to life in the families we support and in the partnerships we
build with professionals and organizations committed to children’s wellbeing.

Families

We care for children and teens ages 4–18 who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, or developmental challenges—whether concerns are new or have been present for some time. We help families understand what’s happening, why it’s happening, and what steps will best support their child.

Healthcare Providers

We partner with pediatricians, therapists, and other clinicians seeking trusted pediatric mental health expertise. With the family’s consent, we share clear evaluations, tailored treatment recommendations, and timely updates—so care is aligned and parents are not left navigating mixed messages on their own.

Schools & community partners

When families choose to involve them, we collaborate with schools and community organizations to translate clinical insight into practical, actionable support where children learn, grow, and spend their time.

OUR IMPACT

The story our results are telling

As MindWeal has grown, we’ve seen this model make a meaningful difference in the lives of the

We look at how well families feel supported, how effectively our plans work in real life, and how
consistently children improve over time.

MindWeal Stories

Families consistently describe feeling listened to, understood, and
supported—every step of the way.

Dr Bansal and his team are amazing with my daughter’s care and very knowledgeable in her particular needs! They are always prompt in responding, with follow ups, and with medication refills. I would highly recommend them.

Tonia Barnes

MindWeal was the first place that truly made sense of what our child was going through. The M-Wise evaluation looked at the full picture—emotions, school, sleep—and helped us get real clarity. Our provider came fully prepared, didn’t rush us, and built a thoughtful plan we could actually follow. We’ve used their app to track progress, message the team, and access helpful tools. It’s been a game-changer for our family. Highly recommend.
