What is executive functioning evaluation at MindWeal?
Executive functioning evaluation at MindWeal is a structured, performance-based assessment that helps us understand how your child manages tasks in everyday life. It focuses on skills such as planning, organization, working memory, task initiation, time management, and flexibility—skills that are essential for school and independent functioning. This evaluation is always done as part of a…

What if therapy isn’t enough?
That’s exactly why we plan a re-evaluation. If your child isn’t improving as expected, we revisit the diagnosis, barriers to progress, and next steps—adding supports only if they’re truly needed.
-
Are you going to push medication?
No. For many children, counseling is the first-line approach. Medication is considered only when evidence suggests it will meaningfully help—and only after benefits and risks are explained clearly. If therapy-only is appropriate, we recommend that.
-
Do you provide therapy directly at MindWeal?
MindWeal does not provide therapy directly. Instead, we evaluate your child, create a clear treatment plan, and connect you with the right therapist through our MindWeal Therapy Network — a curated group of trusted community providers. This allows us to focus on diagnostic clarity and psychiatric oversight while ensuring your child receives the right therapy…

What if we already have a therapist?
That’s great. With your consent, we collaborate and coordinate so everyone is working toward the same goals with the same understanding of diagnosis and treatment plan.
-
Can we do therapy first and come to MindWeal later if it doesn’t work?
You can—but many families prefer not to lose months to trial-and-error. Starting with a comprehensive evaluation gives you a clear roadmap so therapy is more focused from the beginning. If you already have a therapist, we can also coordinate so treatment is aligned.
-
Do we really need a comprehensive evaluation if we only want therapy?
In most cases, yes — because therapy is most effective when it addresses the true driver of symptoms rather than surface behaviors alone. Emotional, behavioral, learning, sleep, medical, or neurodevelopmental factors can overlap and influence one another. Without a thorough evaluation, important contributors may be missed, which can slow progress or lead to frustration. A…

How soon will we get results, and how are they reviewed?
You’ll receive a written report through your secure MindWeal portal about one week after testing, along with guidance on how to interpret the findings. These results are then reviewed in detail with your provider during your follow-up visit, typically about two weeks after testing, where you can ask questions and agree on next steps together.…
-
What if my child doesn’t cooperate or results are invalid?
That’s okay—and it happens sometimes. If your child is unable to complete the test or doesn’t cooperate despite our support, we’ll talk with you about next steps. In many cases, the test can be repeated at a later time. How repeat testing works: Our goal is never to penalize families. We want testing to be…

What if my child’s teacher doesn’t fill out the forms—can you still complete the evaluation?
Yes. Teacher input is very helpful, but the evaluation can still move forward without it. We use multiple sources of information, and your provider will guide next steps if teacher feedback is delayed or unavailable.
