How do you decide if my child needs medication?

Medication decisions are based on a comprehensive clinical evaluation—not a checklist or a rushed visit.

We consider:

  • Your child’s primary diagnosis and the pattern of symptoms
  • Symptom severity
  • Impact on daily functioning, including school performance, home life, relationships, and emotional well-being
  • Response to therapy and other supports
  • Medical history and any safety considerations
  • Your family’s goals and values

Medication is recommended only when evidence shows it is likely to meaningfully help—and when the benefits clearly outweigh the risks.
