What should I expect during a new patient appointment? (GBP)

During your new patient appointment, you and your child will meet with a board-certified provider who will conduct a comprehensive clinical evaluation. This evaluation will involve a thorough discussion about your concerns and your child’s mental health. The provider will educate you about the diagnosis, available treatment options, and the expected outcomes of the recommended approach.

Based on the evaluation, a personalized treatment plan will be created to address your child’s unique needs. This plan may include one or more of the following components:

  • Recommendations and referrals for evidence-based counseling or psychotherapy to address specific mental health issues.
  • If medication is deemed necessary, a clear plan for medication management will be discussed, including potential benefits and potential side effects.
  • Recommendations for advanced testing or assessments, if required, to further clarify the diagnosis and guide treatment decisions.
